Choose or build your chat link

1. Copy a business link if you have one. In WhatsApp Business on Android, open Tools, the three-dot More menu, then Short link and use its link-copy control. On iPhone, use Tools, Short link, then Copy Link. These steps are for the Business app, not a universal personal-account menu.
2. Or use a direct number link. WhatsApp documents https://wa.me/12125550123. Build your link with the full international number, including country code. Use digits only: no plus sign, brackets, spaces, or dashes. Drop a local dialing prefix when converting to international format; keep zero digits that belong in the actual number.
3. Add a draft only if useful. Adding ?text=Hello to your link puts Hello in the message field. A space must be URL-encoded, as in ?text=Hello%20there. Encode punctuation too. The visitor can edit the draft and still chooses whether to send it.
4. Paste and check. Choose Text or link and paste your complete chat link into Text or URL. Open it directly and confirm the recipient and draft. Then save and test the QR image with another person before printing.

A shop window contact code

Label a window code “Message our shop on WhatsApp” and print the business name beside it. Use a number the business owns and monitors. A short draft such as “Hello, are you open today?” gives visitors a starting point. It cannot reserve an appointment or promise that a staff member will answer immediately.

What stays in the image

The QR stores the link itself, including any number and message in that URL. We add no generator redirect or scan counter. Your inputs stay in this browser during creation and download. Our code never expires, and the saved image remains readable if this generator closes.

The WhatsApp account must remain active. A deleted account, changed number, or unavailable destination can stop the intended chat. A renamed display name alone does not change a number-based link. A copied business short link may have its own reset rules. If the address changes, create a new code and replace old prints.

Privacy, login, and built-in codes

Anyone who has a number-based QR can read the phone number from its link. Share a contact number deliberately; the squares do not hide it. WhatsApp privacy settings still control profile information, and a chat link cannot bypass restrictions or reveal private messages. Visitors may need to use or sign in to WhatsApp to continue.

WhatsApp already provides its own contact QR. On Android, use More options, Settings, the QR beside your name, then Share. On iPhone, open Settings or your profile picture, then that QR and Share. Business accounts have their own QR under Short link. Those are useful built-in options, including for print. Ours fits when you want SVG, a direct number link, or image creation without the app.

Print and troubleshoot

Start at least 2 cm / 0.8 in wide, dark on light, with the quiet margin clear. Keep the image square. Use SVG for scaling or PNG for everyday layouts. Test the finished sign before printing many.

Use a system QR reader for our ordinary link code. Apple documents tapping QR links on iPhone; Google documents it on Pixel. Other Android cameras vary. If the link appears but the chat fails, check country code, active account, login, and connection. If the draft looks wrong, check its URL encoding.
