Word to PDF, free and without uploading

Free, with no account. Nothing is uploaded: your document stays in this browser. The page draws your .docx, then your browser saves it as a PDF with selectable text.

Complex layouts may shift. This page redraws the document itself and is not Microsoft Word, so columns, text boxes, equations, unusual fonts and exact page breaks can move. Check the preview against your original before you save. It reads .docx files only.

The Word reader (about 0.17 MB) loads only after you choose a file.

Choose a .docx file to begin.

In the print window, choose Save as PDF as the destination.

How to use this tool

Frequently asked questions

Is my Word file uploaded, and is it free?

No. Your file is opened and drawn entirely in this browser, with nothing uploaded or stored by API Tool Calls. It is free, with no sign up.

Will the PDF look exactly like my Word document?

Not always. This page redraws the document with its own reader rather than Microsoft Word, so complex layouts can shift. Text boxes, columns, WordArt, equations, tracked changes, special fonts and tight page breaks are the usual trouble spots. Compare the preview with your original before you save. For a pixel-exact PDF, use Word's own Save As PDF.

How do I get the PDF file?

Select Save as PDF. Your browser's print window opens; choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) as the destination, leave margins at None or Default, turn on background graphics if you want shading, and save. The PDF keeps selectable, searchable text.

Does it work with .doc, Pages or Google Docs files?

It reads .docx only. For an older .doc file, open it in Word or LibreOffice, choose Save As and pick .docx. From Google Docs, use File, Download, Microsoft Word (.docx).

Which fonts are used?

The document asks for its fonts by name. If a font is not installed on your device, the browser substitutes a similar one, which can change line breaks and page breaks. Fonts embedded inside the file are not used.

Are macros, links and pictures from outside the file used?

No scripts or macros run. Only web and email links are kept, and pictures stored inside the file are shown; pictures linked from other sites are not loaded.
