Frequently asked questions
How accurate are the subtitles?
Whisper is good on clear speech. Check names, numbers and timing in the editable table, especially with noise, music or unfamiliar words.
Which languages are supported?
Standard supports many languages with auto-detect or English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian choices. Fast supports English only.
Why does the first run download 77 MB?
Standard runs Whisper on your device. First Make subtitles downloads 77 MB of weights plus the runtime and tokenizer. Fast uses 41 MB. Browser storage caches model files after the first time when available.
Can I subtitle long files on a phone?
Files are capped at 60 minutes. Long files can be slow or use too much memory on phones. Try Fast for English, shorter clips or a desktop browser.
Does it identify different speakers?
No speaker labels are generated. The subtitles contain speech and timestamps; you can edit the text yourself.
