Compress Video Online, Free, No Upload

Choose videos, review the estimated sizes, pick a preset or target size, then select Compress video and save each file or a ZIP.

Make large videos easier to send without uploading them. Balanced caps height at 1080p and targets about 3 Mbps; Smaller caps at 720p and about 1.5 Mbps. Lower resolution and bitrate reduce detail, especially in fast motion.

Chrome and Edge first. Re-encoding needs WebCodecs; codec support varies by browser and operating system.

Email size calculates bitrate from your target and each video’s duration, with 128 kbps audio and a 300 kbps video minimum. The estimate is a guide: the actual result can vary. MB here means 1,048,576 bytes. If the result is no smaller, save the original instead.

Need to shorten a clip or add captions? Use the video editor. For sound only, use MOV to MP3.

The video engine and libraries load only when you choose a file. ZIP code loads only when you download a batch.

Limit: 2 GB per file. Large videos need more browser memory; shorter batches are easier on your device.

Choose or drop files to start.

Video uses mp4box.js (BSD-3-Clause), mp4-muxer (MIT) and webm-muxer (MIT). ZIP uses fflate (MIT).

Frequently asked questions

Are my videos uploaded, and is it free?

No. Each file never leaves the device. This tool reads and processes files entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded or stored by API Tool Calls. It is free, with no sign up.

How much smaller will my video be, and is quality lost?

It depends on the original bitrate, length and motion. Balanced targets about 3 Mbps at up to 1080p; Smaller targets about 1.5 Mbps at up to 720p. Compression is lossy, so fine detail can soften. An already compressed video may not shrink; if that happens, you can save the original.

What size should I choose for email, WhatsApp or Discord?

Personal Gmail allows up to 25 MB of attachments in total, so aim below that to leave room for other files. Discord currently allows 20 MB for free uploads, with higher limits on some paid accounts. WhatsApp video limits vary by connection and sending method; its help lists up to 100 MB for faster connections and 2 GB for documents. Check the limit shown in your app and enter a target below it. A very small target can look poor or exceed the target at the minimum bitrate.

Can I compress many videos at once?

Yes. Choose or drop several MP4, MOV or WebM videos, up to 2 GB per file. Each completed video gets a Save link, and Download all (.zip) collects two or more results. Cancel stops the current file and remaining work while keeping completed results.

Which browsers can compress video?

Use current Chrome or Edge first. Re-encoding requires WebCodecs and support for the source codec. MP4 with H.264 and AAC is used when the browser can encode it; otherwise the output is WebM with VP9 and Opus. The page tells you which format it produced.

Can I trim a video or save only its sound?

Use the video editor to trim a long clip or add captions before compressing it. Use MOV to MP3 when you only need the sound from a video. Both tools process files in your browser.
