Free M4A to MP3 conversion for iPhone voice memos, iTunes audio and other AAC recordings. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Export a voice memo from your iPhone or choose an unprotected M4A from your music library. Turn it into an MP3 for players and apps that need that format. Protected iTunes purchases cannot be converted.
The MP3 encoder loads only when you convert. ZIP code loads only when you download a batch.
Limit: 500 MB per file. Long recordings and large videos need more browser memory. Use a current Chrome or Edge.
Choose or drop files to start.
MP3 uses LAME / lamejs (LGPL-3.0), served separately and unchanged; complete encoder source. ZIP uses fflate (MIT).
Frequently asked questions
Are my M4A files uploaded, and is it free?
No. Each file never leaves the device. This tool reads and processes files entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded or stored by API Tool Calls. It is free, with no sign up.
What quality and bitrate should I choose?
MP3 is a lossy format, so conversion cannot improve the original audio. Choose 128 kbps for smaller files, 192 kbps for everyday listening, or 320 kbps for a larger file with less compression. The default is 192 kbps. Mono stays mono and stereo stays stereo; wider tracks are mixed to stereo.
Can I convert many M4A files at once?
Yes. Choose or drop several files, up to 500 MB each, and convert them in one batch. Each successful file gets its own Save link. When at least two MP3 files are ready, Download all (.zip) saves them together.
Why does an M4A file fail to convert?
The browser can't read that file's audio if its codec is unsupported, the file is damaged or protected, or it has no audio track. Try a current Chrome or Edge. Files over 500 MB are rejected before conversion.
Which browsers can convert M4A to MP3?
Use a current Chrome or Edge for the best chance of reading M4A, AAC and the audio track inside MOV or MP4 files. Other browsers may work when they support the source audio codec. Support varies by browser and operating system.
