MP4 to MP3 Converter
Free MP4 to MP3 conversion to pull the sound out of a video. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Save a lecture, song, interview or any other soundtrack from your video as an MP3. The browser reads the audio track from the MP4 file; the result contains audio only. MP4 files with supported audio also work.
The MP3 encoder loads only when you convert. ZIP code loads only when you download a batch.
Limit: 500 MB per file. Long recordings and large videos need more browser memory. Use a current Chrome or Edge.
Choose or drop files to start.
MP3 uses LAME / lamejs (LGPL-3.0), served separately and unchanged; complete encoder source. ZIP uses fflate (MIT).
How to use this tool
Choose or drop MP4 videos, pick 128, 192 or 320 kbps, then select Convert to MP3 to save the audio from each video.
Frequently asked questions
Are my MP4 videos uploaded, and is it free?
No. Each file never leaves the device. This tool reads and processes files entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded or stored by API Tool Calls. It is free, with no sign up.
What quality and bitrate should I choose?
MP3 is a lossy format, so conversion cannot improve the original audio. Choose 128 kbps for smaller files, 192 kbps for everyday listening, or 320 kbps for a larger file with less compression. The default is 192 kbps. Mono stays mono and stereo stays stereo; wider tracks are mixed to stereo.
Can I convert many MP4 files at once?
Yes. Choose or drop several files, up to 500 MB each, and convert them in one batch. Each successful file gets its own Save link. When at least two MP3 files are ready, Download all (.zip) saves them together.
Why does an MP4 file fail to convert?
The browser can't read that file's audio if its codec is unsupported, the file is damaged or protected, or it has no audio track. Try a current Chrome or Edge. Files over 500 MB are rejected before conversion.
Which browsers can convert MP4 to MP3?
Use a current Chrome or Edge for the best chance of reading the AAC audio inside MP4 files. Other browsers may work when they support the source audio codec. Support varies by browser and operating system.
Is the video kept in the MP3?
No. The MP3 contains only the audio track, with no video or pictures. Your original MP4 file stays on your device. To trim or save a video instead, use the video editor.
