How does the resume skills gap checker work?

It compares the skills your résumé shows with Columbus, Ohio postings for your chosen job family. You see skills found and not found in your résumé text, with posting counts and shares. Add a skill to your résumé only if you have it.

Can I compare my resume with a specific job description?

This page checks Columbus, Ohio postings for data analyst, software engineer, or project manager roles. It does not accept a pasted job description.

Can I upload a PDF or Word resume?

This page accepts pasted plain text or a .txt file with 50 to 50,000 characters, within a 60,000-byte UTF-8 JSON request including the job family and formatting. Multibyte characters and JSON escaping use more bytes. It does not accept PDF or Word files. Job Alerts at jobs.cowerx.dev has more résumé features.

Is my resume stored?

Your résumé text is sent to the server for the check, written to a temporary file, and deleted immediately after the check finishes, including if it fails.

Is the resume skills gap checker free?

Yes, without an account. There are 20 free calls per day per IP, shared with the other server-based tools and agent calls.
