How accurate is the scanner, and why check every field?
It reads clear receipts well; check the vendor and total. OCR and fixed extraction rules can miss any field, so confirm every editable value and line item before using an expense report. Amber fields say check this when confidence is low, a fallback was used, or arithmetic does not match.
How should I photograph a receipt?
Use good light, keep the camera square to the page, include every edge, and avoid blur, shadows and folds. Images are rotated using their EXIF orientation, reduced to a 2400 pixel long edge and read in greyscale. HEIC works only when your browser can decode it.
Can I scan PDFs and many files at once?
Add up to 50 files at once; each file becomes one document, including multipage PDFs. Pages with at least 40 characters of existing text use that text directly. Other pages are rendered at 300 dpi for OCR. Cancel stops the reader.
Which languages and date formats work?
English text comes first. Choose month/day/year or day/month/year for ambiguous dates; the default follows your browser locale. Check other languages carefully. Explicit currency symbols or codes are used; absent currency stays blank.
Are receipts uploaded, and can I make an expense report?
Your receipts never leave this browser. Nothing is uploaded. Reader files download from this site on first use and can be cached. Edit the results, then use Summary CSV, Line items CSV or Excel for expense reports; edits appear in every export.
