MP4 to Animated GIF

Choose an MP4 stored on your device. This tool accepts local files only. The browser must be able to play its video codec; an MP4 extension alone does not guarantee support. GIFs have no sound.

Limits: 150 frames, 15 seconds of video, 100 MB per input file, 960 × 960 output pixels, 50 MB per GIF. Video timing uses FPS.

To animate still images instead, use the GIF maker.

    How to use this tool

Open a local MP4 in Video mode, set start and end times, output size and FPS, then press Create GIF and save it.

    Frequently asked questions

Is it free, and are my files uploaded?

It is free, with no sign up. Files are read and processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored by API Tool Calls.

What are the clip length and frame limits?

Use at most 15 seconds and 150 frames, sampled at 5 to 15 FPS. At 15 FPS the maximum clip is 10 seconds. Each input is limited to 100 MB, output dimensions to 16-960 pixels, and the finished GIF to 50 MB.

Can I paste a video URL?

No. Choose a local MP4 file from your device. Frames are read and encoded entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded.

Will my GIF keep sound and video quality?

GIFs have no sound and use at most 256 colors per frame, so fine detail and smooth gradients may change. Each frame fits inside the chosen size with white space as needed.

What if my MP4 will not open?

The MP4 must use a codec your browser can play. Try a compatible local clip or another browser; unreadable video shows an error.
