Pickleball Court Cost and Size Planner

Check the rulebook footprint and whether one court fits your open, level space. Cost cards are public city project and planning figures, not a price for your court. Keep them separate.

Provide both space dimensions or neither. Fit is checked for one court only; multi-court layouts can share runoff.

How to use this tool

Enter at least one known detail. Leave unknowns blank or choose Not sure. Add both open, level space dimensions to check whether one court fits. Press Plan court, then copy or print the footprint, separate cost references and unpriced scope without an account.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to build a pickleball court?

Lake City’s January 9, 2024 plan gives $15,000–$50,000 per constructed court with a 30 x 60 ft overall footprint: planning guidance, sample not reported. Fencing, lighting, permits, drainage and design are not itemized: do not assume they are included. These public project figures are not a price for your court. Recreational Park Master Plan for Lake City, Florida, January 9, 2024.

What are pickleball court dimensions and backyard court sizes?

The 2026 USA Pickleball Official Rulebook, rules 3.A.1 and 3.A.3, gives a 20 x 44 ft marked court and a 30 x 60 ft minimum playing surface, including runoff. Its recommendation for new construction is 34 x 64 ft. The playing surfaces occupy 1,800 and 2,176 sq ft respectively. 2026 USA Pickleball Official Rulebook. The rulebook’s minimum playing surface is 30 x 60 ft; its recommendation for new construction is 34 x 64 ft. Two courts with their own full recommended playing surfaces occupy 4,352 sq ft. Side-by-side courts can share runoff, so a court builder’s layout may need less. 2026 USA Pickleball Official Rulebook.

Will a pickleball court fit in my yard?

This planner checks one court in both orientations. A 40 x 70 ft open, level area fits both rulebook sizes; 32 x 62 ft fits the minimum but needs 34 x 64 ft for the recommended size. A 65 x 35 ft area fits the recommended size when rotated; 29 x 100 ft is too narrow for the minimum. Level, well-drained ground and access for equipment matter as much as size; a court builder checks the site. 2026 USA Pickleball Official Rulebook.

What does it cost to build a pickleball court in a backyard?

Public project figures are for parks, not backyards: a backyard court may differ in access, base work and finish. Oak Point’s October 29, 2025 one-court proposal was $49,850 for 34 x 64 ft, 5-inch post-tension concrete, acrylic surface and lines, posts and net, 196 linear ft of 4-ft fencing and cleanup on an owner-prepared site. It excludes permits and inspection, electrical, engineering and design, utility changes and landscaping repairs; it was valid 30 days and is not a final paid price. Its October 27, 2025 $159,000 base bid has an unusually large 62 x 62 ft x 6-inch construction with sidewalks and earthwork, posts and nets and acrylic surface; permits and bonds are excluded. Do not compare these as one range. Oak Point Parks and Recreation Commission agenda packet, June 8, 2026.

What have public pickleball court projects cost per court?

Magna’s May 27, 2025 minutes record $67,644.50 for one reinforced-concrete court and a separate $74,408.95 budget request with the city’s 10% contingency. Pad size, finish, fencing, lights, permits and site work are not stated; the contingency was that city’s choice, not a rule. Lake City’s January 9, 2024 four-court facility budget is $100,000–$200,000 including design and construction: one city’s facility budget, not a homeowner price. Never sum or blend the cards. Magna City Council minutes, May 27, 2025. Recreational Park Master Plan for Lake City, Florida, January 9, 2024.

Is the planner free, and can it price resurfacing or extras?

Yes. Copy and print without an account. Web and MCP share 20 free calls per IP per UTC day and a global ceiling of 2,000; no separate tool cap. Provide at least one input; omitted court count uses 1, marked assumed. Figures are in the dollars of their year; none is adjusted. Resurfacing an existing slab has no public figure in this tool; have the slab checked for cracks, slope and drainage. Tile surfaces have no public installed figure here and need a sound concrete or asphalt base. Only the $49,850 Oak Point proposal includes some fencing: 196 ft of 4-ft fence. Court lighting needs a licensed electrician and usually a permit. Site preparation, drainage and permits stay unpriced: ask for them itemized.
