Compress File Online
Choose files or a folder, pick a compression level, then select Make ZIP. Compare the sizes, rename your ZIP and save it.
Bundle files into one ZIP for email or upload, entirely in your browser. Text, CSV, logs, documents, spreadsheets, RAW, BMP, WAV and most older office files compress well.
JPG, PNG, MP4, MP3 and PDF files are already compressed and barely shrink in a ZIP. Modern DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files are already zipped too.
ZIP code loads only when you select Make ZIP. Files never leave your browser.
Limit: 2 GB total. Large ZIPs need available browser memory; try smaller batches on a phone.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded, and is it free?
No. Each file never leaves the device. This tool reads and processes files entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded or stored by API Tool Calls. It is free, with no sign up.
Why do some files barely shrink in a ZIP?
ZIP compresses text, CSV, logs, documents, spreadsheets, RAW, BMP and WAV well. Most older office files shrink well too. JPG, PNG, MP4, MP3 and PDF are already compressed and barely shrink inside a ZIP; modern DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files are also ZIP containers. Try Compress a PDF, Compress JPG or PNG photos, or Make a video smaller: resize or trim instead.
Can I compress a whole folder?
Yes. Choose folder keeps its relative paths, including nested folders, inside the ZIP. You can also drop files or folders in browsers that support folder drops. Empty folders are not included. Duplicate file paths get a -2, -3 or later suffix so every file is kept.
How do I open the ZIP file?
On Windows, right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All. On a Mac, double-click it. On an iPhone or iPad, tap the ZIP in Files. On Android, open it in the built-in file manager and choose Extract; the wording varies by phone.
What is the size limit, and which browsers work?
The total input limit is 2 GB (2,147,483,648 bytes), with up to 65,535 files per ZIP. Use a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Folder picking and dropping depend on your browser. The ZIP stays in browser memory, so large selections can fail on devices with less available memory; try a smaller batch.
Can I make a password-protected ZIP?
No. This tool does not offer password-protected or encrypted ZIP files. The saved ZIP can be opened by anyone who has it. Use an archive app on your device if you need encryption.
