This common 4.0 plus/minus scale uses A+ = 4.0, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D- = 0.7 and F = 0.0; schools vary. Use attempted credits, including failed courses. Optional honors +0.5 and AP +1.0 are a common convention applied on top of these points. In this convention, failed courses receive no bonus. Retakes and pass/fail policies are not modeled.
Your result
GPA = Σ(grade points × attempted credits) / Σ(attempted credits). Optional weighted points = base points + honors/AP bonus for passing grades.

Worked example
An A in a 3-credit course and a B in a 4-credit course give (4 × 3 + 3 × 4) / 7 = 3.428571… unweighted GPA. If the A is AP, the optional convention gives (5 × 3 + 3 × 4) / 7 = 3.857142….

Frequently asked questions
Is this my official GPA?
It is an estimate from the entered courses. Schools vary in plus/minus values, honors and AP bonuses, repeats, exclusions and rounding.
Does weighted GPA exceed 4.0?
It can. This optional convention adds 0.5 for honors and 1.0 for AP to passing grades, and always shows the unweighted GPA too.
Do I count failed courses?
Include their attempted credits and choose F for zero points. This convention adds no honors or AP bonus to F grades.
