Set your target course percentage and the final exam weight from your syllabus. Enter your current non-final average in the first category, or add completed categories with relative weights. The final exam result appears first.
Your result
Average = Σ(score × weight) / Σ(weight). Final needed = [target − current average × (1 − final share)] / final share, with final share = final weight / 100.
Primary source: NIST weighted mean formula; final target is its algebraic rearrangement.
Worked example
A current average of 85%, a target of 90%, and a final worth 20% of the whole course need (90 − 85 × 0.8) / 0.2 = 110% on the final. This is unattainable without extra credit. A target of 86% instead needs 90% on the final.

Frequently asked questions
What if the required final score is over 100%?
The target is unattainable on a final scored from 0 to 100 without extra credit. Your school sets extra-credit and rounding policies.
Which weight should I enter for the final?
Enter the final exam percentage of the whole course grade from your syllabus, greater than zero and up to 100.
Can I enter one current average?
Yes. Use one category with your current non-final average and any positive weight. For several categories, use relative weights that describe the non-final work.
