Unit Price Calculator
Compare two or more package prices using one target mass, volume or item-count unit. Enter net contents, rather than packaging weight, and one shared currency. Mass cannot be compared to volume without ingredient density, so this calculator rejects mixed dimensions. The lowest numerical unit price is reported with ties; product quality and other purchasing factors are outside this arithmetic.
Calculation result
Unit price = package price ÷ net quantity converted to the target unit. All packages must share one dimension and one currency.
Primary source: NIST SP 1181 Unit Pricing Guide, consistent units of measure. NIST SP 811 conversion factors supplies the unit definitions.
Worked example: 3 USD for 500 g is 0.006 USD/g; 5 USD for 1 kg is 0.005 USD/g. For count, 6 USD for 12 items is 0.5 USD/item, while 8 USD for 20 items is 0.4 USD/item.
How to use this tool
Enter prices and positive net quantities for 2–100 packages. Select their explicit units, the common target unit and the currency label. The result table keeps your input order and identifies every package tied for the lowest unit price.
Frequently asked questions
Can package sizes use different units?
Yes, provided all units share a mass, volume or count dimension. Grams and pounds can be compared; grams and fluid ounces cannot.
Can I compare different currencies?
No. Enter all prices in one currency. The three-letter label identifies your amounts; no exchange rates are fetched.
Is this calculator free and private?
Yes. Arithmetic runs on your device. Your entries are not uploaded or saved to browser storage, and no sign-up is needed.
