Let d be the calendar-day span between the earlier and later dates. Exclusive weekday count = 5 × floor(d / 7) + Monday–Friday dates in the remaining d mod 7 days after the earlier endpoint. Inclusive adds 1 if the earlier endpoint is Monday–Friday. Reversed inputs negate the count. Uncheck weekday filtering for all calendar days.

U.S. Naval Observatory gives the Gregorian leap-year rule. Endpoint counting and month-end clamping are the conventions used here.

Worked example: 2024-01-01 to 2024-01-08 = 7 days exclusive or 8 days inclusive; weekdays only = 5 exclusive or 6 inclusive.

Dates use the proleptic Gregorian calendar for years 0001–9999. Calendar days do not depend on daylight-saving time. Exclusive counting excludes the earlier endpoint and includes the later endpoint; inclusive counts both. Reversed dates return a negative count. Equal dates count as zero exclusive, or one inclusive if the day is a weekday. Public holidays remain included; this is not a jurisdictional deadline calculator.

How to use this tool

Enter two dates and select Calculate. Weekdays only is on by default. Choose inclusive to count both endpoints; otherwise the earlier endpoint is excluded and the later included.

Frequently asked questions

Are public holidays excluded?

No. Business days on this page means Monday through Friday only. Public holidays are counted, and no country-specific calendar or legal deadline rule is applied.

Which endpoints are counted?

Exclusive excludes the earlier date and includes the later date. Inclusive counts both, subject to weekday filtering. Reversing the inputs negates the count.

What happens for equal dates or weekends?

Equal dates return zero exclusive. Inclusive returns one for a Monday–Friday date and zero for a weekend. Uncheck weekday filtering to count all calendar days instead.
