Markdown Cleaner privacy policy
Markdown Cleaner is a free Chrome extension published by Cowerx. It turns supported web pages or selected text into Markdown. This policy covers the extension; this website has its own site privacy policy.
Page content stays on your device
The extension reads a page only when you click its button or choose its menu item on that tab. Conversion runs locally. No page text is uploaded. The Markdown goes to your clipboard, or to a file if you choose Download. Page text, page addresses and browsing history are never sent to Cowerx.
Reddit comment requests
When you convert a Reddit thread, the extension asks Reddit for that thread’s comments. The request goes from the page to reddit.com, using the thread address and your current Reddit session. Nothing from it is sent to Cowerx.
What is stored on your device
- A random install identifier.
It is kept in Chrome's extension storage and removed when you uninstall the extension. The extension stores no settings, page content or history.
What is sent, and when
- Once, when the extension is first installed, it sends an install event to mdclean.cowerx.dev. The event holds the random install identifier and the extension version. It never includes page content or addresses. As with any web request, our server sees your IP address.
Nothing else is sent to Cowerx.
Data handling
We do not sell data or share it for advertising, unrelated purposes or creditworthiness decisions. We use install events only to count installs. We do not run code from remote servers.
